GFR: Menu Terminology
 
 
Introduction
This document outlines the terminology used to refer to fields and objects in the Grubhub for Restaurants (GFR) menu entry tool. 
 
Terms
GFR Term
Details
Menu
Object on Cust ID that contains the menu content and all objects for ordering.
Section
Object on the menu containing items. Must be built before items can be built.
Item
Object in Sections that represent singular food items that can be ordered by a diner.
Description
Object in Items that contains information such as ingredients or style of preparation.
Schedule
Object on the menu that is attached to Items. It provides a limitation on an Item’s availability depending on day, time, or both. Schedules are non-functional when not attached to Items.
Modifier
Object attached to Items that provide the diner with options that is on the menu outside of Sections and Items. 
 
Modifiers are non-functional when not attached to Items.
Modifier Prompt
Name of the modifier utilizing existing style guide: Choose a.../Would you like?
Modifier Item
 An option listed on a Modifier, with or without an upcharge.
Upcharge
The cost of an option attached to an item.
Sizes 
The main pricing of an item in modifier object form, this can also be toggled to have options vary based on the price selected.
Internal Name
Fields on menu objects that help content specialists (entry, quality control, etc) to differentiate between two or more objects of the same name when they appear in a list (Choose a size [pizza]/Choose a size[soup])
Quantity (on Modifier)
Limitations set for how many options a diner can or are required to select on an item (See details below)
Single Selection, Required
Diner MUST select at least 1 and up to 1 (Choose a…)
 
 
Single Selection, Optional
Diner can select 1, but not required (Would you like…?)
Multiple Selections, Optional
Diner can select as many or as few options as they want (Would you like…?)
Custom
